The Olympic dreams of Canadian short track speed skater Francois Hamelin are about to come true.

Hamelin began to dream about the 2010 Olympic speedskating competition back in 2007 and he knew that if he persevered, he would make it come true.

“For me, I think I am like every other child who has a dream of competing in the Olympic Games when they start playing sports,” said Hamelin, from his home in Montreal. “You see all the role models on television and you really want to achieve that goal, but you never expect to accomplish it. Three years ago, I qualified for my first World Cup and since then, I knew the Olympics would be a reachable goal."

With the world’s athletes wanting to learn all they can about the ice at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, site of the Olympic speed skating competition, Hamelin and his teammates had the advantage of holding training camps and the selection competition there.
